Sorting of Solid Waste

The County is asking all who use the landfills to help keep them in compliance with state and federal regulations. The District 7 Health Department and the Department of Environmental Quality make regular site inspections to make sure that the County is in compliance with all regulations.

To maximize the capacity of the landfill, every effort will be made to divert recyclable materials from the waste stream. Depending on the market, recycling may not always be cost effective for all materials. Specific recycling programs may be developed for aluminum, steel, and cardboard.

Anyone who has a contractor pick up their garbage, must be sure that it is only household garbage in the contractor’s dumpster. It is the individuals responsibility to transport all other waste disposal to the landfills. Loads must be sorted in the assigned areas. Loads must be covered and secured during transport to the landfill.
