Directions

At the intersection of Courthouse Drive and U.S. Highway 93 North; leaving Salmon on U.S. Highway 93 North, you will travel 3.5 miles. Turn left onto Diamond Creek Road. The Lemhi County Fairgrounds main entrance is located to the left.

The Lemhi County Fairgrounds Caretaker’s mobile home is located ¼ of a mile from the main entrance of the fairgrounds, on the left side of Diamond Creek Road.

Description of Office

The Lemhi County Fairgrounds is primarily a site for festive events and activities. These range from local roping club activities, 4-H events, open jackpot nights, Fourth of July events, the county fair, to our local car races.

For the availability of the fairgrounds to conduct an event or an activity, please contact the Lemhi County Extension Office at (208) 756-2872. Agreements may include, but not be excluded to what utilities, (bathrooms, electricity) arenas, stalls, and buildings that are needed.

Judging Criteria:
Participants will be judged on their introduction, organization, content and accuracy, stage presence, delivery, effect on audience, summary, purpose, and time.

Eligibility:
All contestants must be 4-H Members

Age Divisions as of January 1, 2004.
  • Junior—8-11
  • Intermediate—12-14
  • Senior—15-19
Time Limits
  • Junior—2-5 minutes
  • Intermediate—3-6 minutes
  • Senior—4-7 minutes

  4-H Demonstration Contest:

Thursday, August 26 th at 3:00 p.m. in the Green Building.

4-H Demonstration Contest:
A demonstration is a presentation in which the 4-H member “shows how” by actually making or doing something.

 4-H Illustrated Talk Contest:
An illustrated talk is when the 4-H member ”tells how” by using visuals, charts, power point presentation, models, or posters.

Awards:
Premium = $5.00

1st Place = Blue Ribbon 2nd Place = Red Ribbon
Grand Champion = Purple Ribbon Reserve Champion = Lavender Ribbon

Original Speech
An original speech is a presentation of concern or interest. Short quotes may be used as a minimal part of this speech. Participants should start with a short introduction including their name, county, and the title of their speech.

Impromptu Speech
Participants will draw a topic and have one minute to collect their thoughts and prepare their remarks. Participants should start with a short introduction including their name, county.

Dramatic Presentation
The Dramatic Presentation is a reading or memorized passage from existing literature. Participants must bring three copies of the presentation material for the judges and should start with a short introduction including their name, county, the source of their presentation and why they chose it.

Awards:
Premium = $5.00

1st Place = Blue Ribbon 2nd Place = Red Ribbon
Grand Champion = Purple Ribbon Reserve Champion = Lavender Ribbon
